AI Overviews, AI-generated answers in Search (2024)

After being tested in Search Labs, AI Overviews, AI-generated summaries at the top of the results page, began reaching all U.S. users on May 14, 2024, with other countries to follow. Elizabeth Reid, VP of Search, said she expected to reach more than 1 billion people by year-end. The feature used a Gemini model customized for Search.
