google.com domain registered
The google.com domain was registered on September 15, 1997, while the search engine still ran at Stanford addresses. The name comes from "googol", 10 to the power of 100, as the authors themselves explain in the 1998 paper.
There is no official image with documented origin for this record yet. The museum prefers showing no image to using one of uncertain origin.
