Gemini 1.0, the first Gemini model (2023)

Introduced by Sundar Pichai and Demis Hassabis, Gemini 1.0 was described as Google's largest and most capable AI model, multimodal from the ground up. It came in three sizes: Ultra, for complex tasks; Pro, for broad use, which began powering Bard; and Nano, for on-device use, debuting on the Pixel 8 Pro. Google claimed Ultra was the first model to outperform human experts on the MMLU test, at 90%.
