Google Domains, the domain registrar sold to Squarespace (2015–2023)
Google launched Google Domains in beta in 2015 and made it generally available in 26 countries on March 15, 2022. It was not an ordinary shutdown: in 2023 Squarespace bought the business’s assets, in a deal announced on June 15 and closed on September 7, 2023, promising to move the accounts of millions of customers to Squarespace Domains after a transition period.
