A Google scientist wins the Nobel Prize in Physics (2025)
A year after the Chemistry Nobel for AlphaFold, another Nobel Prize reached Google. On October 7, 2025 Michel Devoret, chief scientist of quantum hardware on the Google Quantum AI team, was one of three laureates in Physics, alongside John Martinis, who had led hardware on the same team, and John Clarke of the University of California, Berkeley. The prize recognized 1980s experiments that showed quantum effects in an electrical circuit, the basis of today's superconducting qubits.
The post’s official image is a photo of the laureate; the museum does not publish photos of people.
